3D Molecules in the Palm of Your Hand!
Molecules is a molecular visualizer. It is a file viewer that allows you to display three-dimensional renderings of molecules and manipulate them using a Leap Motion Controller. Molecules can be displayed in a window or in fullscreen mode, and Retina displays are fully supported.
The Leap Motion Controller lets you move an open hand in three dimensions to rotate and scale the molecular structure faster than you could with the 2-D input of a mouse. Lateral translation of a structure is accomplished by moving two open hands in parallel.
The application currently supports molecular structures in the PDB, SDF, and XYZ file formats. These files can be downloaded from a number of sources, including the RCSB Protein Data Bank and NCBI's PubChem.
Molecules is free and its source code is available under the BSD license.
