Multi-Dimensional MIDI/OSC/CopperLan Expression Through Hand Gestures

Please contact us through the product website if you need assistance with using GECO. We'll get back to you as quickly as possible. Additionally, on the website you'll find an extensive collection of video tutorials to help you get started and a user forum to exchange tips and tricks.

GECO is one of the easiest and most powerful solutions to interact with MIDI/OSC/CopperLan through touchless control. Our custom multi-staged processing engine ensures an extremely low processing overhead and near zero latency, while still providing you with beautiful real-time visual feedback and powerful customization capabilities. GECO has been designed for live performance and quick configuration during rehearsal by industry professionals that have years of experience with high-speed low-latency electronic music software.

GECO doesn't produce or manipulate sound directly, its purpose is to control other software or hardware that understands MIDI, OSC or CopperLan.

Features
  • 40 different control streams with both hands
  • Any control stream can be mapped to MIDI CC, Channel Pressure, Pitchbend and Pitchwheel messages on 16 different channels
  • High-resolution 14-bit MIDI support with customizable fine message number
  • High-resolution OSC support with customizable paths and OSC server selection
  • Full support for CopperLan data output, assignment, learning and mapping storage
  • Tunable gesture boundaries with support for defining dead zones around the center positions
  • Instantly switch between related control streams by opening or closing your hands
  • Carefully designed GUI for an immediate overview of the active MIDI mappings
  • Real-time low-latency visual feedback of your hand movements and MIDI data
  • Integrated virtual MIDI port on MacOSX, additional freely available software can be used to send MIDI to other applications on Windows
  • Connects to any known MIDI output port on your computer, for instance hardware synthesizers, on both MacOSX and Windows
  • Fully customizable user interface (colours, graphical elements, background image)
  • Flexible document management that can be loaded while performing gestures
  • High performance and near-zero latency engine with virtually no CPU impact when the real-time visualizations are hidden
  • MIDI decimation setting to allow integration with legacy hardware that has limited MIDI bandwidth
  • Advanced data output tuning with range inversion, minimum and maximum boundaries, distribution curves, attack and decay times

What's New

Version 1.3.0
  • Updated for Leap Motion API v2.1.
  • Changed intelligent hand open/close algorithm to take advantage of the new skeletal tracking.
  • Added support for LAST as an option for data offset in the MIDI mappings.
  • Added support for smoothing movements as a document setting.
  • Added support for dual MIDI CC streams, where a negative value will send out positive data for another CC.
  • Added support for Latch mode by allowing selection between continuous data streams or toggling between the offset and rest values.
  • Fix for movement streams where the lower and upper bounds were artificially limited.
  • Fix for openness linking between invalid MIDI configurations, to still reset the valid one.
  • Minor stability improvements.

Thanks for reaching out, have you tried launching the airspace application on your computer? You should see a blue arrow in the top right corner of the Geco MIDI application icon.

If you contact GECO support through the contact email address, we can help you track down your problem. We didn't change anything in the MIDI handling in the last update, nothing should have changed. It's probably a configuration matter on your system.

Cool app that allows us to create infinite routings with hand expressions. Still on my system is a bit heavy even trying to adapt it for low cpu usage. I will like to see some improvements by implementing Leap motion V2 tecnology

  • Amazing

Great App, I use it with Jeskola Buzz (an amazing software, with incredible control machines), the modes " closed open" are perfect, sound is a 4 dimensions space, we can control 3 easily with just one hand (dynamic, frequency and spectrum). Very intuitive, very ergonomic, you can make a complete new setup in 2 minutes, so, thanks for these nice pieces of code, and this friendly price. What is the best lighting for the Leap Motion?

A well thought out app that is really useful for anyone with midi devices, not just a demonstration of leap technology. Its easy to setup, has great support by the developer. Thanks Geco!

Finally a software dedicated to make natural organic movement by the body a key piece of music making. Geco has a straightforward interface and takes minutes to learn and master. The support and community around Geco is reason alone to get the software and see where it takes us in the future.

  • Everything I'd hoped a MIDI Leap app would be!

I pre-ordered the Leap Motion specifically with plans to use it as a MIDI controller. This the only MIDI app I've tried for Leap but I can't see myself needing to try any others - this does everything I wanted and more. The fact that Geco is automatically picked up as a MIDI input was a nice surprise, and the configuration options for gestures are simple, effective and well thought out (Rest Value is really useful!) Highly recommended, especially for experimental/electronica artists.

  • Dream come true

    by user-246848881 – July 23, 2013

I ordered my Leap Motion a year in advance BEFORE there were any MIDI related apps available and when I heard about Geco it answered all of my questions as to how Leap will start helping move music production forward. Technically it works great and I am still getting used to the sensitivity of the Leap. Creatively this is limitless and WELL WORTH the $10. Honestly, when I saw the video on Youtube about it I told my friends I would pay $100 for it!!!
