Airspace Guidelines

Introduction from Michael Buckwald, CEO and Co-Founder

We’ve always said we’re going to change the way people interact with technology — that’s how we’ll change the world. It all starts now. Introducing, Airspace. It’s the one place where everyone with a Leap Motion Controller will go to discover, purchase, and download your apps. Your work will be front and center — the first ever content built with this technology.

This is why we’re all here. Together we are going to push the boundaries of what is possible and give people new ways to think, learn, explore, and discover.  We’re ready, and we know you are, too.

We have enormous respect for you. You’re taking this technology and platform further than we may have even thought it can go. Just like you, we want future Leap Motion users to be excited and amazed every time they launch an app. Their Leap Motion experience needs to be great.

In this spirit, we’ve come up with some guidelines for what we’ll accept into Airspace. It’s not because we want to control everything, it’s because we want all of our work to be the best it can be. If we accomplish that, our users will feel it. Following these guidelines will also help as you develop your app to get you through the approval process. It’s all in place to get your app up on Airspace, and in everyone’s hands, as quickly as possible.

You should know that Leap Motion has sole discretion over what apps to include or not include in Airspace. Although every app submission is reviewed by the Leap Motion App Review Team using these guidelines, meeting them doesn’t mean your app will be automatically approved. Ultimately, it’s our decision. As always, please let us know what you think about this process along the way in the Developer forum.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you develop your app:

Leap Motion technology can do things that have never been done before. We’d love your app to do the same. We’re looking for apps that use this technology to its fullest potential. You’re an innovator. When we see your app, we’ll ask why someone would want to launch and experience it over and over again. Even if it’s just fun and amazing — that works for us.

Make your app look great and perform well. This is truly advanced technology. Airspace is designed with this in mind. We’re dedicated to high-quality, professional standards. You should be, too.

Make your app easy to use and easy to understand. Instructions should be clear and easy to find. If a user needs help, make it easy for them to get it.

While we want you to create the most innovative apps possible, there are some types of content we do not want to see in Airspace. These are outlined in the following guidelines, along with functional and performance standards that need to be met.

Surprise us. Excite us. There’s never been technology like ours or apps like yours. Airspace is the first of its kind, so let’s put our best work out there. We can’t wait to see what you’ve created, and for everyone to see it, too.

The Leap Motion App Review Team evaluates every app submission using these guidelines, and will report back to you with any issues that specifically reference these guidelines.
